Our Response Leadership
The board of Our Response is made up of Steve Fredlund (Director of Our Response), Trent Pepper (chair), Nicole Forbes, Bob Jonsson, Janie Pearson, and Mark Radeke. Each board member has travelled to Kivuruga, Rwanda, and sponsors at least one child in that community.
Steve Fredlund, Director
Steve was one of the co-founders of Our Response and volunteers as its director. He is a lifelong resident of East Central Minnesota and works as an Investment Actuary with Allianz Life in Golden Valley. Steve holds an MBA in Non-Profit Management from Bethel University and has served in several non-profit leadership roles.
Trent Pepper, Chair
Trent Pepper traveled to Kivuruga in 2011 as a member of Our Response’s second trip team. Trent serves as Assistant General Counsel for Benedictine Health System. He and his wife, Karry, live in Cambridge with their three children.
As a World Vision employee Nicole felt fortunate to connect to the amazing work and people of Our Response. The partnership soon led to a trip to Kivuruga, where Nicole and her husband had the life-changing opportunity to meet their sponsored child.
Now working as the New Product Development Manager for Anchor Wall Systems, Nicole is thankful for the opportunity to remain so personally involved in the work of Our Response. Nicole, her husband Eric, and their son Owen currently reside in Eagan, Minnesota.
Bob Jonsson has served as a pastor for 27 years. He is currently the lead pastor of First Baptist Church in Cambridge, Minnesota. Bob feels honored to have been part of the first Our Response team to visit World Vision’s Area Development Project in Kivuruga, Rwanda. He and his wife Nancy sponsor a young Kivurugan girl named Jeanette and Bob had the wonderful life-changing opportunity to meet her. Bob and Nancy have three grown married children and 11 grandchildren.
Janie loves life as a homemaker and volunteer in Cambridge, Minnesota. Her invitation to travel with the second team that traveled to Rwanda in 2011 surprised her by becoming an unimaginably rich experience. With her own two children “grown and flown,” Janie finds it especially meaningful to engage with the children of Kivuruga. Janie appreciates that her husband Dave also lends wholehearted support to the work of Our Response.
Mark was privileged to dream, hope and pray with Steve and Bob about a community coming together to make a difference in the lives of children. He was part of on the first team that went to Kivaruga, Rwanda, which led to the founding of Our Response. Mark serves as pastor at River of Life Church in Cambridge, Minnesota. Mark, his wife Connie, and their family of five have sponsored children since 1994.
